1st off I'm pretty impressed with the cleans, something I honestly didn't give much attention to May 13, 2015 · I did use a Mesa Boogie 12ax7 tube to replace the other tube. Would a bad pre-amp tube cause the amp to appear to shut off like that? I could understand it affecting the sound, or even having the sound drop out and come back in, but to cause the various lights on the amp to switch off and on, and even affect the foot switch like that? Jun 29, 2011 · I've used boogies before and currently have a little 5:25 express which I like a lot with a hotplate attached so I can turn up the power section for some tube chewyness, it's kinda funny as I know that amp was knocked for it's sounds but for me I find it very versatile. Recto-Verb 25 owner who is fine with the nasaltones, I can confirm you are right. The boxiness is much, much more prevalent at practice volume.
